I hope you all had a fantastic time celebrating VE Day on Friday. As promised, I made a yummy Victoria sponge cake filled with strawberry jam and buttercream and topped with lots of icing sugar. The sunny weather on Friday and Saturday was simply the best, don't you agree? I hope lots of you were able to have fun in the sunshine and maybe a BBQ or time in a paddling pool.
Some of you have A LOT of marbles in your jar. I'm having to write the numbers on top to keep track!
Here are some pieces of work that really stood out to me this week:
Archie's letter to the Very Hungry Caterpillar
Arrany's time telling work to map out what Wiggles the Caterpillar does each day
Archiejack's story of 'The Very Hungry Puppy'
Bruce's illustrated story showing the butterfly life-cycle (starring Bruce the Caterpillar)
Elizabeth's time telling work with added details and adjectives
Henry W's work showing the Very Hungry Caterpillar's Day
Isla's favourite bee facts... (I agree, bees are super important pollinators and the Queen Bee is definitely boss)
Theo's work on healthy eating
Thank you for sending me your work. I love reading your emails, seeing your hard work and your happy faces!
This week's marble activities are inspired by one of Miss Boardman's favourite books: Jack and the Flumflum Tree by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by David Roberts. I had never heard of this book before she recommended it to me. You can listen to a retelling with pictures here and read the words of the story here.
A polite reminder to please send me your marble activities on or before Saturday 16th May. I can't wait to see what you get up to! Please also keep practising your maths facts and spellings.
Keep smiling and I'll see you on Wednesday my wonderful little Squirrels.
Love from Miss Cartwright
