Wonderful Wednesday

Bonjour Squirrels. I hope you're well. Does anyone know what language I used to say hello today? Perhaps you could try saying hello to someone in your family using a different language today.

Exciting news! As you know, at Whaddon school we use something called Mantle of the Expert in our learning. In Squirrels class we know it as 'mantle' or 'stepping into our story'. We have been the Woodland Rangers since September and have adapted as a team to help many people and things. This includes a mummy and baby Gruffalo, the wildlife around Whaddon, an Inuit named Kalik and the magical land of Caspian who had a problem with some dragons.

Another Mantle teacher has created a website full of daily mantle 'episodes' that anyone can join in with. The current problem is to do with some trolls, which should suit Squirrels well, as our current Mantle team is the 'Magical Animal Assistance Team'. Click the link below to get started on Chapter 1 of the Troll Hunter story.

In other news, following on from the shadow challenge set for you on Friday, us teachers decided to play with shadows too. Can you guess who is who? Let me know how you get on!

Here are some activities to keep you busy:

Mr Small has added some more stories for you. Perhaps you could create a den (indoors or outdoors) to settle down in and listen to a story? I'd love to see pictures if you do.

Calling all adult Squirrels! We would really like to know how our blogs are helping you at home. What is working well? Is there anything we could improve on? Feedback on the blogs and activities would be really appreciated. Please let us know at whaddonteachers@gmail.com

Enjoy the activities and speak soon!

Love from Miss Cartwright
